Nowadays, AI is already an integral part of our society. Since the rise of ChatGPT and other tools, AI is hotter than ever. While Microsoft had already launched AI-generated ads via Bing Chat in March, Google remained silent. But of course, that doesn't mean that Google has been idle. The latest AI-related features were introduced at the Google Marketing Live event 2023 (GML) in Dublin last month, and we can tell you that Performance Marketers' work is about to change significantly! Kim was present in Dublin on behalf of Yellowgrape, she will update you on the most important developments in this story!

“AI IS THE NEXT BIG SHIFT”

These were the words Google used to open the event. Indeed, in the third quarter, Google will launch AI-generated ads within Google Ads, for both Responsive Search Ads (RSAs) and Performance Max ads. These AI-generated ads include not only ad copy, but also relevant keywords, extensions, and images. This makes setting up ads extremely easy, as the only input required is the URL. Initially, setting up these ads will only be possible at the campaign level. Because this is still very time-consuming, Google is currently working on developing bulk uploads. In addition to Google Ads, Google has also developed the AI integration for Spreadsheets and Documents in Google Drive.

The impact of AI on marketers' work

Where we used to spend a lot of time and effort setting up ads, AI will soon provide an automated approach. The advantage of this is that we marketers can focus on strategic aspects, such as analyzing results, optimizing campaigns and developing creative marketing strategies. However, the rise of AI involves a lot of negativity and uncertainty. That's why psychologist Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic came to talk about the question: 'Will AI improve the way we work and live, or will it alienate us?” In his keynote, he stated that the rise of AI enables humanity to focus on what they are good at. He described this as follows: “We'll need to double down on our curiosity, adaptability, and emotional intelligence while relying on the lost virtues of empathy, humility, and self-control.”

Google is expected to make the new AI features available in the Netherlands at the end of Q3. Can't wait to get started with AI for your ads? Yellowgrape already launched a AI Conversion Assistant, which you can use for your ad texts, for example!
